Bishop Nicholas on the US elections:
“Everything Must Be Done With Prayer”
Citizens of the USA will participate in the election of their president on November 3, 2020. His Grace Bishop Nicholas (Olhovsky) of Manhattan discussed how Orthodox Christians should vote while preserving Church traditions:
“In our Church life, in our personal lives, each one of us, as everyone in America, must do everything with prayer. We pray for peace, unity and harmony, and that Divine Will is manifested. The most important thing for us these days is to pray for peace, and of course, to preserve the sacred Traditions of the Church. The Church does not call upon us to support one candidate or another, we pray for peace,” said Vladyka Nicholas.
The Abbot of the Monastery of the All-Merciful Savior in Washington State, Fr Tryphon (Parsons), said that he also calls upon his spiritual children to vote, while orienting themselves on the way of life of the Church:
“I don’t make recommendations as to how to vote, I always say: When you vote, do it while thinking of the Church.
“Unfortunately, I see that the US might now stand on the threshold of even a civil war. And I think that independently of the results of the elections, we will see new bursts of violence on the city streets of America. I pray to God that this does not come to pass.”
