Services and meetings of the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia
On Sunday, February 23, 2025, Meatfare Sunday, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, celebrated Divine Liturgy at St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in New Jersey in the presence of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign." His Eminence was co-served by the rector, Archpriest Serge Lukianov, and the cathedral clergy, Archpriest Daniel Andreyuk, Representative of the Orthodox Church in America to the Moscow Patriarchate, and other guests in the priesthood. At the end of the service, His Eminence congratulated Archpriest Vasily and Olga Andreyuk on their golden wedding and the 50th anniversary of Fr Vasily's pastoral service, presenting them with church awards.
On Wednesday, February 26, His Eminence received Archpriest Leonid Goferman, Rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in New Brunswick, NJ, and the clergy and staff of the Chancery of the Synod of Bishops.
On Thursday, February 27, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas received Archpriest Gregory Joyce, Secretary of the Diocesan Administration of the Diocese of Mid-America.
On Friday, February 28, Metropolitan Nicholas visited Novo-Diveevo Convent of the Dormition and also Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY.
On Sunday, March 2, Cheesefare Sunday (Forgiveness Sunday), Metropolitan Nicholas officiated at Divine Liturgy at the Synodal Cathedral in New York. At the end of the service, His Eminence shared a luncheon with the clergy and worshipers. On the evening of the same day, Vladyka Nicholas led Great Vespers with the rite of forgiveness. At the end of the service, Metropolitan Nicholas offered guidance to those present for Great Lent and asked forgiveness.
On Monday, March 3, the first day of Great Lent, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas prayed in the morning at services in the Cathedral, and in the evening he read the first part of the Great Canon of St Andrew of Crete.
