The Cathedral of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” hosts 30th-anniversary celebrations of the glorification of St John of Shanghai and San Francisco the Miracle-worker

On Thursday, 27 June, 2024, the Cathedral of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” was the site of a moleben to St John of Shanghai and San Francisco the Miracle-worker. His Grace Bishop James of Sonora headed an Akathist service along with clergy of the Western American Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. Praying at the service was His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of ROCOR; His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America; His Grace Bishop Theodosius of Seattle and His Grace Bishop Alexander of Vevey (Switzerland).

Divine services were sung by the choir of Holy Trinity Seminary of Jordanville, NY.

On Friday, 28 June, solemn all-night vigil is schedule to be headed by Metropolitan Nicholas, followed by Divine Liturgy on Saturday. Two choirs will sing at the services; Holy Trinity Seminary and the local Archbishop’s Choir.
