GERMAN DIOCESE: February 6, 2024
On the Sunday of the Synaxis of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church, the Cathedral of the German Diocese celebrates its patronal feast day
On the feast day of the Cathedral of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors in Munich, Germany, divine services were celebrated by two bishops, His Eminence Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany and His Grace Bishop Job of Stuttgart. Vladyka Mark was solemnly greeted and vested at the pulpit.
During the reading of the hours, a parishioner of the cathedral, Nikolai Klein, was ordained a reader.
After the litany of Fervent Supplication, Metropolitan Mark read a prayer for peace.
At the end of Liturgy, a moleben was served to the Holy New Martyrs, and then Polychronion was proclaimed to the hierarchy, the serving priests and deacons, the numerous namesday celebrants, as well as the parishioners of the church. Memory Eternal was then sung for the departed archpastors, pastors, clergy and parishioners.
This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of the laying of a memorial stone in the wall of the cathedral. After the luncheon, a film about the construction of and transfer of the parish to the cathedral was shown in the parish hall, remembering those who labored in the church over the past thirty years.
