Divine Liturgy is celebrated at the hometown of Grand Duchess Elizabeth on the date of her birth

On 1 November, 2023, the 159th anniversary of the birth of Holy Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth, Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Archpriest Konstantin Grinchuk at St Mary Magdalene Church in Darmstadt, Germany, the city of her birth.

The traditional “Days of Elizabeth” celebrated in Darmstadt included a photo-exhibit devoted to the memory of Grand Duchess Elizaveta Feodorovna and Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich, and to the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. The open-air exhibit drew great interest from the local population.

On this day the church was also visited by pilgrims from the parishes of Bilifeld and Bad-Kissingen. Denis Sudobin and Marina Butusova of the Darmstadt parish led an excursion of the two groups, recounting events in the life of the young princess.
