JORDANVILLE, NY: 2 June 2023 The 75th school year at Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville, NY, has successfully concluded, and on May 28, 2023, the 7th Sunday after Pascha – that of the Holy Fathers of the 1st Ecumenical Council, the seminary celebrated its annual commencement. Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York celebrated Divine Liturgy, co-served by monastery and visiting clergy. After the service, a luncheon was served in the monastery refectory. A procession of seminary administrators, faculty, and students then went to the cathedral for a thanksgiving moleben for the end of the school year. Since His Grace Luke, Bishop of Syracuse, Rector of Holy Trinity Seminary, was abroad at the time of the commencement, his opening remarks were read by Deacon Michael Pavuk. Following this, the gathered body listened to the commencement address delivered by Archpriest Peter Perekestrov (BTh, Class of ’78) entitled "Ever Ancient, Always New." This was followed by remarks by seminary dean Dr Nicolas Schidlovsky, who then awarded degrees to the five Bachelor of Theology, three Master of Divinity, and seven Certificate in Theological Studies students graduating as part of the class of 2023. After the awarding of the degrees, Metropolitan Nicholas and Archpriest Serge Lukianov addressed those gathered with some reflections based on their own time at Holy Trinity Seminary. A number of students in the non-graduating classes were recognized and received awards for Academic Excellence and Diligence. Following this, Reader Oleg Cruz and Leo Grabowski, valedictorians of the Bachelor of Theology and Master of Divinity graduating classes respectively, offered their collegial addresses before the ceremonies concluded with a prayer and all were invited to enjoy a celebratory reception on the monastery lawn. eadiocese.org |
