GERMAN DIOCESE: 23 May 2023
The First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad accompanies the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God to the German Diocese
On Wednesday, 3 May, 2023, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, accompanying the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God “of the Sign,” arrived in Munich, Germany. His Eminence Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany and His Grace Bishop Job of Stuttgart met the delegation at the airport, whence they departed for St Job of Pochaev Monastery. The monastic brethren warmly greeted the great holy relic and the Primate of the Russian Church Abroad.
Metropolitan Nicholas then headed to St Elizabeth Convent in Buchendorf, where the nuns met the miracle-working icon and the Head Pastor of the Russian diaspora in the house chapel. Metropolitan Nicholas venerated its icons, addressed Abbess Maria and performed a moleben service.
On Thursday, 4 May, the First Hierarch will lead a regular session of the Synod of Bishops.
