Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York will visit the German Diocese

On Tuesday, 2 May, 2023, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, will accompany the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign" to Germany. On Thursday, 4 May, the Convent of St Elizabeth in Buchendorf will host a session of the Synod of Bishops. A film on the history of the convent can be viewed here.

Metropolitan Nicholas will be discussing matters pertaining to affairs of the European dioceses of ROCOR with the archpastors who serve there, meet with clergymen of the German Diocese and review the life of its parishes and monasteries.

On 5-6 May, the First Hierarch will perform divine services at the Church of Empress Alexandra at Bad Ems. An outline of the history of this church is posted here.

On Saturday evening, 6 May, the President of the Synod of Bishops will perform all-night vigil at St Nicholas Church in Stuttgart. The history of this church is posted here.

On Sunday morning, 7 May, the 4th Sunday of Pascha, His Eminence will celebrate Divine Liturgy at Holy New Martyrs of Russia Cathedral in Munich in the presence of the Kursk Icon of the Mother of God.
