Svyatogorsk Dormition Lavra receives humanitarian aid from German Diocese and Bukovina
Approximately 20 tons of humanitarian aid was delivered to Svyatogorsk Lavra on December 30, 2022, by volunteers from the Chernovtsy-Bukovina Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The shipment included vegetables, apples, conserves, grains, sunflower oil, cleaning and personal hygiene supplies, medicine, towels, cattle feed, building materials etc.
Part of the aid, including over 20 winter coats for the monks, were purchased with contributions gathered by Archpriest Andre Sikojev, Rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in Berlin, Germany, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
The Orthodox brothers and sisters of Germany also gave the “Holy Mountain” monastery soups, shampoo, knitting yarn and batteries. Also contributing produce were Orthodox farmers from the local diocese.
The effort’s coordinator, Oksana Tsyuga, a parishioner of the Diocese of Chernovtsi-Bukovino, said “A great thanks to the caring believers who sent donations.”
A single donor was responsible for 500 liters of fuel for the delivery, while the German Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia also helped pay for shipping.
