The funeral of Bishop Evtikhy is scheduled for 30 November at his cathedral immediately following Divine Liturgy. He will be interred behind the altar of the church where he served for many years.
Born Ivan Timofeevich Kurochkin on 6 March, 1955, in Ishim of Tyumen' oblast, he was baptized in St Nicholas Church. After graduation, he served in the military and then at a state institution. In 1976, he moved to the city of Omsk, where he began to help at the cathedral. In 1977, Bishop Maxim (Krokha) of Omsk and Tyumen' ordained him a subdeacon. In 1978, he enrolled in Moscow Theological Seminary, after which he moved to Ishim. On 24 July, 1982, he was tonsured a monk, and later ordained a hierodeacon, and three months later a hieromonk.
In 1987, he was elevated to the rank of hegumen and assigned to a post in the local diocese. He later became the rector of a new parish near Ishim. In 1989, he joined a group of clergymen of Siberia who appealed to the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Church Abroad to join that jurisdiction. In April, 1992, the municipality of Ishim handed over Epiphany Cathedral, which had been used for other purposes, to the community of Fr Evtikhy. In January, 1994, he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite, and in July of the same year, he was ordained Bishop of Ishim and Siberia. By decision of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church on 16 May, 2007, in connection with the signing of the Act of Canonical Communion between the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Church Abroad, he was designated Bishop of Domodedovo, Vicar of the Moscow Diocese.
In 2012, due to health reasons, he was retired and provided a residence in Ishim, where Epiphany Cathedral was appointed Patriarchal metochion, with Bishop Evtikhy as its rector.
