Humanitarian aid from Germany arrives in Svyatogorsk Lavra
On 20 November, 2022, Svyatogorsk Lavra received humanitarian aid purchased with funds collected in Germany, as reported by svlavra.church.ua. The shipment was blessed by His Eminence Metropolitan Meletii of Chernivtsi and Bukovina and delivered by Orthodox Christian volunteers from the Chernivtsi Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Provided were two generators, three construction dryers, LED solar bulbs, dried fish, canned meat, laundry detergent, thermoses and other products to aid refugees.
Helping send the funds from Germany were the Bukovina Orthodox Fund of the Diocese of Chernivtsi-Bukovina of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the Fund for Assistance to the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. The money was donated by parishioners of the Russian Church Abroad in Germany and the USA.
Orthodox Christians in Germany are already preparing the next shipment to the Lavra: medicine and vitamins, food products, batteries and other technology. Archpriest Andre Sikoev, Rector of Protection of the Mother of God Parish in Berlin pointed out that this would not be the last shipment. Orthodox Christians of Germany are collecting medicine, food and other goods. Doctors in Berlin are helping obtain needed medical products.
The German Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, headed by His Eminence Metropolitan Mark of Germany is once again helping Svyatogorsk Lavra, the first delivery of medicine having arrived on 24 September of this year.
