Exaltation of the Cross Cathedral in Geneva hosts Ukrainian refugees

On the tenth Sunday after Pentecost, 21 August, 2022, more than sixty Ukrainian refugees from the Refugee Centre in Nyon, Switzerland (some forty kilometers from Geneva), were welcomed to the Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross in Geneva for the Divine Liturgy. They joined the many members of the Cathedral parish of Ukrainian descent, as well as the many refugees who are already part of the community, in the reception of the Divine Mysteries and the lifting up of prayers for the cessation of bloodshed in Ukraine.

Following the Liturgy, co-served by Archpriests Pavel Tzvetkoff and Emilian Pocinoc, a reception was arranged for the guests, including a generously prepared meal and coffee. Fr Emilian spoke with the visitors for some time, assuring them of the spiritual home that each of them has in the Geneva Cathedral and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, and rejoicing with them in the unity God provides in His Church, even in times of trial; before sending them forth in peace with the hope of a return visit in the nearest future.
