On Saturday, 25 June, 2022, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church celebrated the patron’s feast day of its Primate, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onouphry of Kiev and All Ukraine. On that day, and also on the following Sunday, Divine services were performed at the Cathedral of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in Munich by clergymen of both churches. This cathedral was consecrated in 2017 jointly by the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad at the time, the late Metropolitan Hilarion, and Metropolitan Onouphry. The latter was commemorated during the services, to whom Many Years was sung. A teleconference was held with him later in the day, when he was personally congratulated. His Eminence Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany, who was en route to Holy Protection Cathedral in Berlin, sent His Beatitude a personal message:
The Russian Church Abroad is closely associated with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as always; the German Diocese of ROCOR tends to the needs of her suffering flock. Spiritual ministry is provided to those who are in Germany throughout all of its parishes. The Russian Church Abroad, ever since the 1917 revolution and World War II, has included many clergymen and believers, including hierarchs, hailing from Ukraine and Belarus. Today, the constructive work of Church communion is actively being conducted by the Russian Church Abroad.
