The first session of the Synod of Bishops to convene in person in two years in New York
On Tuesday, December 7, 2021, the feast day of Great Martyr Catherine, the members of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia are convening in person un New York for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic. Participating in the session, chaired by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York will be His Eminence Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany; His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America, Secretary of the Synod of Bishops; His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada; His Eminence Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America; His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe and His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, Deputy Secretary of the Synod of Bishops.
This session will conclude with feast-day celebrations at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady "of the Sign" on December 9-10, during which the nomination and consecration of Archimandrite Job (Bandmann) as Bishop of Stuttgart, Vicar of the German Diocese, will take place. It is expected that Vadim Gan will lead the choir in singing the works of composers of the Russian Church Abroad to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1st All-Diaspora Council which was held in Sremski Karlovci, Yugoslavia.
