At a session of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church held on December 29, 2020, the following decision was made regarding the nomination of Hegumen Job (Bandemann), a resident of St Job of Pochaev Monastery in Munich, Germany, as Bishop of Stuttgart, Vicar of the German Diocese. JOURNAL No. 109 DECREED: to confirm the decision of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia to nominate Hegumen Job (Bandemann) as a Vicar of the German Diocese. Background: An appeal was sent to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia from Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York to ask that the Holy Synod confirm the nomination by the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia of Hegumen Job (Bandemann) as a Vicar of the German Diocese. In accordance with the Act of Canonical Communion off 17 May 2007, "The bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia are elected by her Council of Bishops or, in cases foreseen by the Regulations of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, by the Synod of Bishops. Such elections are confirmed in accordance with canonical norms by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia and the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church." DECREED: To confirm the decision of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia to nominate Hegumen Job (Bandemann), as Bishop of Stuttgart, Vicar of the German Diocese, leaving to the discretion of the Hierarchy of the Russian Church Abroad the time and place of his consecration.
