The Sunday of the Veneration of the Cross in the monasteries of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission
The rite of the Veneration of the Cross was performed in the monasteries of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem on Saturday and Sunday, March 21-22, 2020.
At the mid-point of Great Lent, for the strengthening and consolation of the faithful, the Holy Orthodox Church prescribes proffering the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord for veneration.
Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), Chief of the Mission, performed the annual ritual with the participation of his clerics at Ascension of the Lord Convent on the Mt of Olives. Other clergymen performed the service at the neighboring Convent of St Mary Magdalene at Gethsemane Convent.
Abbess Varvara of Ascension Convent and Abbess Elizabeth of Gethsemane and their nuns participated in the services along with local parishioners.
