The namesday of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad is celebrated at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady "of the Sign" in New York
On Sunday, November 3, 2019, the feast day of Venerable Hilarion of the Kiev Caves, the namesday of Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, was celebrated at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady "of the Sign" in New York City.
His Eminence celebrated Divine Liturgy, joined by Vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan and diocesan clergy: Archpriest Andrei Sommer (cathedral Dean) and Archpriest Elias Gorsky (Rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY), Hegumen Vladimir (Zgoba; Rector of Our Lady "Unexpected Joy" Church in Staten Island, NY), Hegumen Eutychius (Dovgan; Synodal cleric), and Hegumen Arseny (Manko; rRector of SS Cosmas and Damian Church in Passaic, NJ), and Synodal Protodeacon Nicolas Mokhoff and Protodeacon Vadim Gan.
The service was held under the aegis of the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora – the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. The Synodal choir sang under the direction of Eugenia Temidis.
