A chapel dedicated to the Royal Passion-Bearers is consecrated in “Beryozki”
On September 29, 2018, the opening ceremony and consecration of the Chapel of the Holy Royal Passion-Bearers took place at Jacksons Point, ON, on the centennial of the martyrdom of the last Russian Emperor, Tsar Nicholas II and His August Family.
One year ago, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, consecrated the site, located on the territory of the Our Lady of Smolensk Church. Priest Maxim Abroskin, the parish rector, initiated the project. The chapel construction was funded by the parishioners of the church, which is located in “Beryozki,” a Russian conclave in Jacksons Point not far from Toronto.
The ceremonious moleben was headed by His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada. Participating in the service were also clergymen of the Orthodox Church in America led by Archbishop Irenee of Ottawa and Canada; present was Consul General Kirill Mikhailov of the Russian Federation. A choir from St Petersburg, Russia, “Konevets-Kvartet,” sang the service.
Archbishop Irenee gave Fr Maxim a gift of a painted icon of the Royal Passion-Bearers. Printed icons of the saints were distributed to all present.
The parish sisterhood offered refreshments and Konevets-Kvartet gave a concert of Russian folk songs.
