SIMFEROPOL, RUSSIA: July 24, 2017
Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York venerates the relics of St Luka (Voino-Yasensky) of Crimea

On July 19, 2017, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, arrived in Simferopol, Russia, leading a pilgrimage of faithful from the United States, Canada and Australia. Following an excursion through the Crimean capital, the pilgrims made a stop at Holy Trinity Convent.

His Eminence Metropolitan Lazar of Simferopol and Crimea and Metropolitan Hilarion performed a moleben at the relics of St Luka of Crimea the Miracle-worker, to whom multitudes of suffering faithful flock in prayer and with hope. Afterwards, Metropolitan Lazar wished the visiting Primate good health, spiritual joy and consolation, as well as success in his difficult archpastoral duties, and wished peace and concord to all those gathered in prayer.

The Ruling Bishop then thanked Metropolitan Hilarion for their common prayer, emphasizing that it is specifically in prayer that people find unity and draw strength for bearing their life’s cross. Metropolitan Lazar then gave the First Hierarch of ROCOR a painted icon of St Luka containing a portion of his relics, invoking the saint’s intercession in support of his ongoing archpastoral labors.
