Carefully preserving the traditions of pre-revolutionary Russia, the Cathedral Choir of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” gave a concert of liturgical music under the direction of Vladimir Krassovsky in San Francisco’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church. After the ceremonial greeting of His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America, a blessing and opening words, over four hundred members of the audience listen to a program comprised of classical compositions of liturgical music by Archangelsky, Bortnyansky, Chesnokoff, Grechaninoff, Nikolasky, as well as contemporary master composers Konstantinoff, Ledkovsky, Raspopov and Trubachov. Notably, the current Cathedral Choir consists mostly of young amateur singers who diligently prepared for the concert. At the end of the performance, the director was given gifts from Archbishop Kyrill and Bishop Theodosius, and flowers from the audience.
