Bishop Agapit of Stuttgart Participates in the Spring Session of the Assembly of Orthodox Bishops of Germany
On March 6-8, 2015, the Assembly of Orthodox Bishops of Germany convened, as reported by the Greek information service “Amen.”
The forum was established in 2010, uniting 16 Orthodox metropolitans and bishops of all the canonical jurisdiction located on German territory.
On Friday, March 6, the bishops, along with 25 priests and deacons of Munich, convened. Questions of pastoral ministry in the Bavarian capital were discussed. The event was hosted by the Serbian Orthodox Church’s spiritual center.
On Saturday, March 7, the Orthodox hierarchs met at St Elizabeth the Martyr Convent of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. Among the matters they deliberated on were the foundations of Orthodox faith in Bavarian schools and Orthodox theology in Munich University. The future of the Orthodox Church in Germany was also discussed.
The next day, Sunday , Divine Liturgy was celebrated in All Saints Church in Munich. It was led by His Eminence Metropolitan Avgustin of Germany of the Constantinople Patriarchate, along with His Grace Bishop Johann of the Antiochian Patriarchate; His Grace Bishop Agapit of Stuttgart of the Russian Church Abroad; His Grace Bishop Sergei of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and His Grace Bishop Sophian of the Romanian Orthodox Church, along with other clergymen of Germany. The Byzantine choir of the Constantinople Patriarchate sang together with Russian and Bulgarian choires, attended by a multitude of faithful. A pastoral epistle was read during Liturgy on the topic of Great Lent.
