DIOCESE OF SAN FRANCISCO AND WESTERN AMERICA: October 24, 2013
Relics of St John of Shanghai Are Being Sent to Yoshkar-Ola
St John of Shanghai and San Francisco was glorified relatively recently, on July 2, 1994. But less than 20 years later, his holy relics have already healed hundreds of people from various ailments, and many prayers to the saint have been answered. Even during his lifetime, St John had special gifts from God: sagacity, a gift of healing, and seeing the inner needs of others. After his death, great miracles have occurred from his relics, which many people today bear witness to.
Within the framework of an international youth educational program, “Spiritual Bonds,” a reliquary containing his relics will travel to Yoshkar-Ola, Russia, according to that diocese’s website.
During the relics’ visit, a broad cultural-educational program is being organized for local youth: seminars, lectures, master classes, presentation of educational publications, and a great deal more.
The greeting of the relics will take place at Voznesensky Cathedral in Yoshkar-Ola on November 14, 2013, at 6 pm.
