An Urgent Announcement by the Liturgical Music Commission of the Synod of Bishops

It is with deep sorrow that the Liturgical Music Commission received news about the devastating floods in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where this year’s North American Church Musicians’ Conference was to take place in October of this year

According to the report of Protopriest Peter Shashkoff, Rector of the All Saints Church in Calgary, the entire downtown area is underwater, with all buildings severely damaged, including hotels, which will require a long period of time to restore

Taking into account Fr Peter Shashkoff’s report, the Liturgical Music Commission, at its meeting on June 27, 2013, regretfully resolved to CANCEL this year’s North American Church Musicians’ Conference in Calgary.

The Synodal Commission expresses its support to all the people of the city and prayerfully wishes the full reestablishment of normal life.

NOTE: The next Conference is scheduled to take place at Saints Peter and Paul Church in Santa Rosa, California, in October 2014.

The October 2015 Conference will be held at the All Saints Church in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
