Holy Virgin Protection Church In Nyack, NY, Marks the Centennial of the Birth of Protopriest Seraphim Slobodskoy

On Tuesday, September 11, 2012, on the evening of the feast day of the Beheading of St John the Forerunner, the relatives of Protopriest Seraphim Slobodskoy, the renowned author of Law of God and founder of Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY, the parishioners and worshipers of this church gathered for a pannikhida to mark the hundredth anniversary of his birth. The pannikhida was led by Mitred Protopriest George Larin, the successor to Fr Seraphim as Parish Rector. After the service, Fr George read a deeply-felt sermon on the memory of the late pastor, and also called upon his parishioners to help restore the church’s frescoes, which were painted by the late Nikolai Papkov, one of the close friends and colleagues of Fr Seraphim.
