Announcement from the Union of the Russians of Gallipoli
We are announcing that this year, 2011, is the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the Union of the Russians of Gallipoli by General Wrangel.
For this reason, the Directors of the Union, during its meeting on June 20, decreed to have a pannikhida performed at the Memorial in Gallipoli near the cemetery where the Russians of Gallipoli lie in Turkish soil.
The date of July 16, 2011, was chosen to mark the anniversary of the monument erected in 1921, where the memory of the fallen White Russian heroes is marked, who established the Russian Diaspora.
The pannikhida will begin at 12:30 pm before the monument, which was rebuilt in 2008 in the city of Gallipoli (Gellibolu, Turkey).
His Grace Bishop Michael of Geneva and Western Europe, the spiritual father of the URG, will perform the service.
We call upon everyone to come and prayerfully commemorate the Russians of Gallipoli and the White warriors who laid down their lives for their Faith, Tsar and Fatherland on this important anniversary.
