Metropolitan Ilarion of Volokolamsk Will Visit Protection Church of the Russian Church Abroad in Paraguay

On July 1-3, 2011, at the invitation of the Paraguayan Government and with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion of Volokolamsk, President of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, will visit the Republic of Paraguay. The visit is scheduled to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the independence of Paraguay, a country in which Russian émigrés played a significant role.

The visit will include meetings between Metropolitan Ilarion and political figures as well as Catholic bishops. It is expected that Vladyka Ilarion will celebrate Divine Liturgy at Holy Protection Church of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, serve a litiya for White Russian  émigrés at the Pantheon of Heroes in Asuncion and speak at Paraguay’s Catholic University.
