On Tuesday, May 10, 2011, the archpastors of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia from throughout the diaspora, headed by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Church Abroad, will pray at Divine Liturgy and a moleben at St Sergius Chapel at the Synodal Residence in New York. After the service and the trapeza that follows, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion will open the Council of Bishops, which will consider matters relating to the internal life of the Russian Church Abroad. After the Council, an expanded Synod of Bishops will meet. It is expected that the Council will conclude on May 17, which will be the fourth anniversary of the reestablishment of the fullness of brotherly communion within the Russian Orthodox Church.
