The Primate of the Russian Church Abroad Leads the Feast-Day Celebration of
St Job of Pochaev in Holy Trinity Monastery
Every year in early September, Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY, solemnly commemorates the feast day of St Job of Pochaev. This year's celebration fell on September 4-5, 2010.
Officiating was His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
On Saturday evening, the eve of St Job's feast day, the miracle-working Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God and the Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God were brought to the Monastery. His Grace Bishop George of Mayfield led an akathist in Holy Trinity Cathedral before the icons, and an icon of St Job, to that saint. Metropolitan Hilarion, His Grace Bishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada and Bishop George then led a multitude of diocesan and monastic clergymen in all-night vigil.
The following morning, the Primate of the Russian Church Abroad then officiated at Divine Liturgy, during which Deacon Kevin Kalish of St John of Kronstadt Church in Utica, NY, was ordained to the priesthood.
After Liturgy, a procession of the cross with the holy icons circled the cathedral.
