A Delegation From Kursk Arrives In the US
On February 22, 2009, a delegation headed by His Eminence Archbishop German of Kursk and Rylsk, Hegumen Veniamin (Korolev), Prior of the city of Kursk’s Korennaya Pustyn, arrived in New York. The delegation was greeted at JFK Airport and taken to St Seraphim Church in Sea Cliff, NY. The Parish Warden, Michael Ryl, met the delegation at the entrance to the church. The delegation began its visit to the US by praying here before the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God and the holy icons of St Seraphim church. A reception was then given in honor of the guests, during which greetings and gifts were exchanged.
The next morning, the delegation met with His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, His Grace Bishop Jerome of Manhattan and Protopriest Serafim Gan. Hegumen Veniamin then performed a moleben before the Kursk-Root Icon in the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Sign in New York City.
During their visit, the members of the delegation will visit Novo-Diveevo Convent, the New Kursk-Root Hermitage, Holy Virgin Protection Church and School in Nyack, NY, St Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ, and Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, along with other holy sites of the Diocese of Eastern America and New York.
