DIOCESE OF SAN FRANCISCO AND WESTERN AMERICA: January 14, 2009 The Saint John Men’s Chorale, a resident choir of the Holy Virgin Cathedral in San Francisco California, has released a second recording titled Chrysostom. The Men's Chorale had the honor of singing at the official Russian Church Abroad's celebration of the 1600 years since the repose of St John Chrysostom. A symposium and hierarchal anniversary service was held in House Springs, MO, at the St John Chrysostom parish in September, 2007. This new CD, sung in Church Slavonic and English, has excerpts from the hierarchal vigil and Liturgy. It includes traditional chants of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as compositions by Turchaninov, Kedrov, Trubachev, Ledkovsky, Archimandrite Matfei, Gardner and Kastalsky. The Chorale has dedicated this CD to the memory of the ever-memorable Metropolitan Laurus and the final piece of the CD is a tribute to him. Please contact the Synod bookstore at (212) 534-1601, or via e-mail: rev.a.sommer@synod.com for more information about ordering the CD.
