Metropolitan Laurus and His Fellow Travelers Visit Peredelkino
On February 28, 2008, the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia headed by His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus visited Peredelkino. Venerating the holy icons and relics of Transfiguration of the Savior Church and blessing the monastics who labor here, His Eminence headed for the grave of the late Metropolitan Nestor (Anisimov, +1962), who was particularly revered by the Russians of Harbin. There, Protopriest Serafim Gan performed a memorial litiya.
Then, Metropolitan Laurus and the members of the ROCOR delegation were received by His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II at his private residence, where His Holiness hosted a reception in honor of the Primate of the Russian Church Abroad. During the fraternal trapeza, His Holiness talked about church life in Russia, about his patriarchal travels, and answered questions. As he bid farewell to His Eminence, the Patriarch gave him an archpastoral mitre, and to the bishops who did not participate in the ceremonial signing of the Act of Canonical Communion, commemorative panaghias for the May 17, 2007, event.
