A Delegation From the City of Kursk Will Attend the Feast-Day Celebrations At the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Sign
On December 5, 2008, a delegation from the city of Kursk, Russia, headed by His Eminence Archbishop German of Kursk and Rylsk and Hegumen Veniamin (Korolev), Prior of Kursk Hermitage, will arrive in New York.
On December 6, the delegation will visit St Seraphim Church in Sea Cliff, NY, where Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany, and will then depart for Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY, to participate in the consecration of Archimandrite George (Schaeffer) as Bishop of Mayfield, Vicar of the Diocese of Eastern America and New York.
On December 9-10, the delegation will attend the celebrations of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Sign, the home of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God. Protopriest John Shaw will be consecrated as Bishop of Manhattan.
The delegation will also visit Novo-Diveevo Convent, the New Kursk-Root Hermitage, Nyack's Holy Virgin Protection Church and School, St Vladimir Memorial Church in New Jersey and other holy sites of the Eastern American Diocese.
The Kursk delegation will depart on December 11.
