The Delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church Continues Its Visit to the United States
A press conference was held on August 31, 2007, at St Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York and the Representation of the Moscow Patriarchate in the US to mark the arrival of the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church to celebrate the reestablishment of canonical unity within the Russian Orthodox Church. The head of the delegation, His Eminence Metropolitan Isidor of Ekaterinodar and Kuban, His Eminence Metropolitan Onufry of Chernovitsa and Bukovina, and His Eminence Archbishop Evgeny of Verey answered questions.
After the press conference, the members of the delegation and the clergy of the Patriarchal parishes in the US and of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia performed a moleben before the "Reigning" Icon of the Mother of God in the cathedral.
That evening, a reception was held at the Golden Hall of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in New York to honor the visiting delegation and the beginning of the celebrations. In attendance were important diplomatic figures, as well as clergymen of the Church Abroad, representatives of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, the Jerusalem Patriarchate, the Antiochian Metropoliate of America and the Orthodox Church in America. His Eminence Metropolitan Isidor delivered a greeting, as did Consul General of the Russian Federation SV Garmonin. Afterwards, the Sretensky Monastery' Men's Choir, which is also visiting the US, performed several songs from its repertoire.
