On June 17, 2007, His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill died, who for 40 years ruled the Bulgarian Diocese of the Orthodox Church of America. His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus sent his condolences to His Eminence Metropolitan Herman, in which he also expressed his sympathies with the episcopacy, clergy and flock of the Orthodox Church of America. In 1964, Archimandrite Kyrill was consecrated to the episcopacy in Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville with the participation of His Eminence Metropolitan Philaret (Voznesensky, +1985), Archbishop Averky (Taushev, +1976) and other bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. In 1967, Archbishop Kyrill participated in the service during which Archimandrite Laurus, future Primate of the Russian Church Abroad, was consecrated to the episcopacy. With the blessing of His Eminence Vladyka Metropolitan, Priest Serafim Gan and Protodeacon Victor Lochmatov attended the funeral and burial of Vladyka Kyrill, which took place in Pittsburgh , PA. |
