Metropolitan Laurus' Speech at the Closing of the Exhibition "The Russian Orthodox Church in the 20 th Century"
"I extend my heartfelt thanks to His Grace Vladyka Ilarion, Minister of Culture Alexander Sergeevich, Yuri Victorovich, Father Protopriest Vladimir and the members of the delegation of the Publishing Council of the Moscow Patriarchate, to Fr Protopriest Victor and all the organizers and benefactors of this exhibition. The event addressed the most recent period of the history of our Russian Orthodox Church, which suffered so much in the 20 th century from the godless persecutors and from divisions. May the new 21 st century be one of peace, fruitfulness and the abundant mercies of God for our dear Mother, the Local Russian Orthodox Church. May the podvigi and sufferings of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia serve as the seed which will bring fruits of holiness, piety, churchliness and spirituality within our Russian people in the Fatherland and abroad. I thank everyone for their efforts in organizing this exhibition. Judging from the reactions of many people, it made an indelible impression on everyone. Thank you all!"
