"Today the Assembly of Saints Gathers in the Church"
On Sunday, 10 November, the parish of All Russian Saints in
Burlingame, CA marked its 50th anniversary. The celebration
was headed by the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church
Outside of Russia, His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus, along
with 6 other bishops: Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany,
Bishop Kyrill, of San Francisco and Western America, Bishop
Ambroise of Geneva and Western Europe, Bishop Evtikhii of
Ishim and Siberia, Bishop Gabriel of Manhattan and Bishop
Michael of Boston.
By vigil on 9 November, two icons arrived: the Miracle-working
Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God, and an icon of St. Feofil
of Kiev which contains his relics. Magnifications during polyeleos
were sung before these icons and the church's icon of All
Russian Saints.
Bishop Evtikhii gave a sermon during liturgy on the topic
of humility. After liturgy and a procession of the cross,
a reception was held at a nearby hall, at which a former member
of the parish, Hieromonk Roman, gave a brief historical overview
of the parish. The first church in Burlingame was set up as
a summer residence with a church for Blessed Metropolitan
Anastassy.
For the last 20 years, the parish rector has been Protopriest
Stefan Pavlenko.
