The
Annual Concert of the Holy Trinity Choir was Held at the Synod
of Bishops
On 23
March, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Sign at the Synod
of Bishops in New York, the choir of Holy Trinity Monastery
and Seminary, under the direction of Hieromonk Roman (Krassovsky)
gave a concert organized by the Synod Memorial Fund.
On the eve, before the feast day of St. Gregory Palamas, the
seminarians and monks arrived in time for vigil, after which
a humble repast was offered to them. His Grace Bishop Gabriel
officiated at liturgy the next morning, along with Priests
Andrei Sommer, Serafim Gan and Victor Dobroff, along with
Protodeacons Eugene Burbelo and Nicolas Mokhoff.
The concert began at 2 p.m., attended by over 100 people.
The choir executed magnificently the chants of our Jordanville
lavra, of venerable Russian monasteries and the works
of our composers. Many crossed themselves with tears in their
eyes, praying, harkening to the warm sounds of the choir.
After the concert, Bishop Gabriel greeted the clergy in his
quarters, including Hieromonk Roman, the Artistic Director
A.I. Panchoshny, Priest Andrei Papkov, who gave solo performances,
and all the singers who brought the parishioners of the local
Russian churches and the other guests spiritual consolation
and encouragement for the continuing period of Great Lent.
