The First Two Volumes of the Life of Metropolitan Anthony
(Khrapovitsky) Published in Russia,
"Metropolitan Anthony and His Times"
The Brotherhood of the Pious Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky
Publishers of Nizhny Novgorod has published two volumes in
one book of the life of Metropolitan Anthony (Khrapovitsky)
of Blessed Memory, written by Archbishop Nikon (Rklitzky),
"Metropolitan Anthony and His Time." The book, containing
716 pages, is hardbound with a jacket, printed in a limited
edition.
The Brotherhood is preparing the remaining 8 volumes (the
entire set will be printed in five books). Metropolitan Anthony
this way returns to Russia--the Russian reader will for the
first time access not only the life history of Metropolitan
Anthony, but his views on the Church and Russia, rare documents,
theological views of Vladyka Anthony, the history of the church
troubles, both in Russia and abroad.
"With God's help, the Brotherhood of Pious Holy Prince
Alexander Nevsky took up the task of printing for the Russian
Church the life of one of the most eminent theologians of
the last thousand years, Metropolitan Anthony (Khrapovitsky)
of Kiev. Metropolitan Anthony was a special individual, he
took a place in the history of our Church both as a theologian
and a unique exposer of our common misfortune and divisions.
Brilliantly educated, he was undoubtedly devoted both to his
Church and Fatherland. One is stunned by the broad scope of
subjects which interested Vladyka Anthony: moral-theological,
canonical, historical, judicial."
--from the foreword by Metropolitan Nicholas of Nizhny Novgorod
and Arzamas.
As a second preface to this new book is the review of Archbishop
Nikon's book by St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco the
Miracle-worker
