Namesday
of His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus
Not wishing to disturb the daily schedule of Holy Trinity Monastery,
on the day of his saint, celebrated on 18/31 August, His Eminence
Metropolitan Laurus performed divine liturgy in the cathedral of
Holy Trinity Moanstery in Jordanville not on the holiday schedule,
but a 6 am, according to the weekday schedule. The midnight office,
which began a half hour earlier, at 4:30 am, His Eminence Metropolitan
Laurus arrived in a simple monastic klobuk, rassa and panaghia (Vladyka
dons a white klobuk and blue mantle at the Monastery only on holidays).
Then, the clergy, headed by His Eminence, read the entrance prayers,
after which the reading of hours commenced, during which those who
were serving vested themselves in the altar of the Monastery Cathedral.
Before the beginning of divine liturgy, His Eminence performed the
ordination of Reader Sergei Ledkovsky into the subdeaconate. At
the end of liturgy, everyone sang Many Years to His Eminence, the
Monastery's Superior, and to the brethren, then going to the refectory,
where His Eminence Vladyka congratulated Archimandrite Flor, who
also celebrated his namesday that day, and told the monks and visiting
clergy and many pilgrims of the life of Archimandrite Sergei (Romberg,
+1992) who died on this day twelve years ago. He was a brother of
the monastery and an expert on the rule of services and teacher
of liturgics at Holy Trinity Seminary for many years. After the
trapeza, Vladyka received congratulations from the clergy and guests
at his residence.

Eminence Metropolitan Laurus on his namesday. May the prayers of
Holy Martyr Laurus help His Eminence in his service as First Hierarch,
and preserve him for many years!
At
the conclusion of divine liturgy, His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus
removes his vestments at the altar. Newly-ordained Subdeacon Sergei
Ledkovsky removes His Eminence's omophorion.
His
Eminence Vladyka congratulates Archimandrite Flor during the trapeza
and tells of the life of Archimandrite Sergei (Romberg, +1992).
