Clergymen
of the Church Abroad Conduct a Moleben
Before the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God
At the invitation
of Bishop Mercury of Zaraisk (ROC/MP), and with the blessing of
His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus, the First Hierarch of the Russian
Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Archimandrite Luke (Murianka),
Dean of Holy Trinity Seminary, and Priest Serafim Gan, a clergyman
of the Synodal Cathedral of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of
God, performed a moleben (service of supplication) before the Tikhvin
Icon of the Mother of God at St. Nicholas Cathedral in New York.
Students of Holy Trinity Seminary accompanying Archimandrite Luke
attended the moleben, as well as parishioners of the Synodal Cathedral
and many other worshipers who came to pray before--and venerate
for the last time--this great holy image, which is returning to
the renascent Tikhvin Monastery this June. The miracle-working icon
will be at St. Nicholas Cathedral until the Sunday of the Veneration
of the Holy Cross.
