A Reliquary with the Relics of Holy Martyrs Elizabeth and Varvara
to Travel to Russia
With the blessing
of His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus and the members of the Synod
of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, a portion
of the relics of Holy Martyrs Elizaveta and Varvara will travel
to Russia, to be met that evening by clergy and faithful at Christ
the Savior Cathedral. These relics of the holy martyrs, which have
performed many miracles, will arrive in the Russian capital by August
5, and from there they will travel to the Far East—to Yakutsk, Anadyr,
Magadan and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. From Vladivostok, the reliquary
will travel along the Trans-Siberian Railroad throughout the country.
The relics
will be carried by a regular train to which a special chapel-car
will be attached. Worshipers of all Federal Districts and of all
dioceses of Russia will be able to venerate the relics.
The holy new
martyrs' relics will also visit Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova (including
the Dniestr Region), Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tadjikistan, Kyrghyz,
Armenia, Azerbaijan and the Baltic states.
