St.
Vladimir Memorial Church Celebrates its Feast Day
St Vladimir’s day was celebrated on July 25, 2004, at St. Vladimir’s
Memorial Church located in Jackson, New Jersey. The service was
officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus, joined by Protopresbyter
Valery Lukianov, Protopriest Boris Kizenko, Protopriest Philip Petrovsky,
Protopriest Liubo Miloshevich, Priest Leonid Goferman and Protodeacon
Joseph Jarostchuk. The services started with the greeting of the
Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God, which was placed outside the
church for veneration. The choir sang festively under the direction
of Alexander Petrovsky. Vladimir Tarkan was not able to personally
direct the choir due to his health. He later received a gramata
(citation) for the many years of service to the church.
After divine liturgy, a procession of the cross led the people out
of the church for the blessing of the water. A banquet was then
held in the church hall and was enjoyed by many.
Protodeacon Joseph Jarostchuk proclaims the text of the Blessed
Synodal Grammata, awarded to the long-time Choir Director V. E.
Tarkan.
