Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York attends a Paschal reception at the Representation of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA

On May 6, 2019, St Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York City hosted the traditional Paschal reception, led by His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, and His Excellency Consul General of the Russian Federation Sergei Ovsyannikov.

The event drew His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Vasily Nebenzia, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation at the United Nations, hierarchs and clergymen of the Patriarchal Parishes, the Antiochian and Serbian Orthodox Churches, the Russian Church Abroad and the Orthodox Church in America. Diplomats and cultural and social figures of New York were also in attendance.

After greetings were read, Yuri Sandulov, President of the “Northern Cross” Foundation for the Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of Russian America, presented a plan for a medal in honor of the Knights of St George buried at Novo Diveevo cemetery in upstate New York.

Alexander Chaplinsky directed the choir of St Nicholas Cathedral in singing Paschal hymns before the event began. Konstantin Stepanov of the world-renowned Sretensky Choir of Moscow performed several solo pieces.
