The Synod of Bishops prayerfully marked the 75th anniversary of the death of Sergei Rachmaninoff

On Saturday, April 28, 2018, the eve of the 4th Sunday of Pascha, the members of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, headed by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, prayed at the grave of Sergei Rachmaninoff. His Grace Bishop Nicholas performed a pannikhida along with Protopriest Serafim Gan and Protopriest Alexandre Antchoutine, along with Protodeacon Eugene Kallaur. An augmented choir of the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady “of the Sign” sang under the direction of Peter Fekula.

After the service, the choir sang Christ is Risen and Nyne otpushchayushi [Now let Thy Servant Depart] composed by Rachmaninoff, the great Russian composer, pianist and conductor. A report on the event is posted on the official website of the Eastern American Diocese.
