The Holy Synod of the Moscow Patriarchate Adopts the Form of Commemoration At Divine Services of the 16th Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia

Excerpt from Journal No. 2 of the current session of the Holy Synod: 

"During a session of the Holy Synod presided over by the Patriarchal Locum Tenens,

HEARD: The report of the Patriarchal Locum Tenens, His Eminence Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, Chairman of the Committee for the Preparation of the Local Council [Pomestny Sobor] of the Russian Orthodox Church, on the form of prayerful commemoration of the newly-elected 16th Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia during divine services until the patriarchal enthronement scheduled on February 1, 2009, as proposed by the Committee:

DECREED:

1. To confirm the following text for the prayerful commemoration of the newly-elected Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia during the period between the election of the Primate of the Church until his enthronement:

During great litany: For our great lord His Eminence (or His Grace) Metropolitan (or Archbishop or Bishop) _______________, His Holiness the Patriarch-elect of Moscow and All Russia, let us pray to the Lord.

During the augmented litany: Again we pray for our great lord His Eminence (or His Grace) Metropolitan (or Archbishop or Bishop) _______________, His Holiness the Patriarch-elect of Moscow and All Russia, and for all our brethren in Christ.

During the Great Entrance: May the Lord God remember in His Kingdom our great lord His Eminence (or His Grace) Metropolitan (or Archbishop or Bishop) _______________, His Holiness the Patriarch-elect of Moscow and All Russia, let us pray to the Lord…

2. To make these supplications during divine services in all the churches of the Russian Orthodox Church from the time of the election until the enthronement of the newly-elected Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia."
